Beyond TPSThere are many excellent high schools—private and public—in the Philadelphia area, so our eighth graders and their parents have many options to consider. To help students and parents make this transition, The Philadelphia School provides information, guidance, and support throughout the high school application process. In late September or very early October, The Philadelphia School hosts a High School Night, when admission directors from a variety of private and public schools present their programs to our eighth graders and their parents. Daytime presentations are also arranged for admission representatives. Throughout the year there are many opportunities for students and parents and students to receive counseling on their high school options. Our high school counselor, our Associate Head for Middle School, and Middle School advisors are all available to guide our families during the application and selection process. Admission directors consider our students well prepared and assets to their programs. Our graduating students choose a variety of high school experiences—including private, public, and parochial high schools—and are valued as flexible thinkers, skillful writers, independent learners, talented athletes and artists, and collaborative team members.
