Physical Education

The Middle School physical education curriculum intensifies reinforcement of skills, Increased mastery in performance, teamwork, and strategy is expected. Activities included in the program are designed to promote physical fitness and encourage students to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

During the Middle School's mini-course period in late winter, the Physical Education Department and Middle School faculty sometimes create special courses for students who wish to explore a new sport, learn more about fitness, or simply have additional time for physical activity.  Examples include biking, fencing, running, tae-bo, hip hop, and swing dancing.

All Middle School students have the opportunity to compete interscholastically after school in basketball, soccer, tennis, track and field, or volleyball. Each year, since spring 2010, members of the school track team qualified for the Penn Relays in the 4x100 relay. In 2010, the boys came in first place in their race; in 2012, the girls came in first.
