Communications

An important component to a student’s success is the partnership that takes place between family and school.  At The Philadelphia School, we provide many avenues for communication with families.

Conferences and Written Reports

  • Twice-a-year parent conferences are an opportunity for parents to meet with teachers to learn about their children’s progress, successes, and growing edges as well as to learn more about the curriculum delivered in each grade.
  • Twice a year, parents receive detailed narrative progress reports that give information about their children’s academic, social, emotional, and physical growth.

Regular Communications

  • Friday Classroom Notes are posted weekly on the school website. Teachers also regularly send information home via email or backpack about classroom happenings, events, and curriculum.
  • All faculty and staff are available to parents via email and phone.  They make every effort to respond to email and voicemail within 24 hours.
  • In addition to maintaining a detailed online calendar, the school posts an additional Friday note to inform families about important school-wide matters, events, and deadlines.
  • The school’s monthly eNewsletter – The ProgressIVE Report – includes articles about the educational program, alumni news, and other information about life at TPS.
  • Our website includes a password-protected parent portal providing access to the School Handbook, the Family Directory, student work, classroom wikis, teacher blogs, and much more.
  • TPS has an emergency alert system to announce via phone and email weather-related closings and other urgent information.

And there’s more . . .

  • The Philadelphia School hosts several events – for example, the New Parent Breakfast, Back-to-School Night, and Let’s Talk TPS – that are designed to give parents greater insight into a particular topic or issue or to provide a more comprehensive understanding the school’s educational program.
  • Our parent association works closely with the school administration and provides programming and resources that help parents find answers to questions and ways to be an active part of the school community.
  • Parents are always welcome at TPS!  They are encouraged to stop by and check in if there are questions or concerns about anything.
