ADMISSION AND FINANCIAL AID OFFICE
It is our intention to make the admission and financial aid process as pleasant as possible, and we look forward to partnering with you. Because of the volume of applications, it is important that you take responsibility for adhering to deadlines, completing necessary paperwork, and scheduling your interview and admission visit. Admissions Open House
There will be an Admissions Open House on Thursday, November 6th, 2008, from 7 to 9 p.m. This event is a wonderful opportunity to tour the school, meet the faculty, and learn more about our curriculum, philosophy, and faculty. This event is planned for parents and guardians only. Your children will have a chance to visit the school at a later date. If you are unable to attend the Open House, please call or email to scedule a private tour.
Application
Please download, complete, and return an Application for Admission along with the required application fee of $60 per child (checks should be made payable to The Philadelphia School).
Applicants for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade should apply by December 1, 2008.
Applicants for 2nd through 7th grades are encouraged to apply by January 5, 2009. Applications received after these dates are handled on a rolling basis as space allows. Students may be placed in a waiting pool as classes become full
Parent/Guardian Interview
Once you have applied, please call to schedule an interview. Interviews are offered on Monday through Friday mornings and usually last approximately 30 minutes.
If you are unable to attend our Admissions Open House, you may also schedule a tour when you visit for an interview, in which case you will need about one hour.
To schedule your parent interview or interview/tour, please call the Admissions Office, at 215-545-5323, ext. 278.

Request for Records
Please complete a requests for information form and give to your child’s current school (if he/she attends school). The school should forward all records directly to our office.
Please download a Request for Records form here.

We ask that preschool and kindergarten applications include a photograph of the child. Please attach the photograph to your application.
Student Visit
If you are applying to preschool, kindergarten or first grade, we will call you to arrange for your child’s attendance at one of our playdays. This year’s playdays will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2008, and on Saturday, January 10, 2009.
Playdays last for one to two hours, beginning at 9:00 a.m. We invite a small group of children to participate in a “mini-morning,” complete with story, snack, and activity time.
If you are applying to 2nd through 7th grades, we will contact you to arrange an admission visit for your child. Applicants for these grade levels will spend two consecutive days visiting classrooms at their current grade level. Please note that we prefer to receive your child’s teacher recommendation forms and school records before these visits can be scheduled.
Notification of Acceptance
For those families who have completed the application process, acceptance letters will be mailed by February 1 or by a later date should space become available. Parents of accepted students must accept or decline their child’s place by February 15, 2009.
Financial Aid
The Philadelphia School seeks a student body that reflects the ethnic, racial, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity of its urban environment. Approximately 25% of our students receive tuition assistance. Last year, we awarded over $900,000 in aid.

Notification of Financial Aid Award
New families who have applied for financial aid will receive a letter informing them of any tuition assistance by mid-February.
