Until the South Street Bridge reopens this year, these are the most direct ways to reach the school by car.
Coming from the North Take I-95 South to I-676 West. Stay on I-676 West to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Exit. Make a right at the exit onto 22nd Street (stay in the right lane); turn right at Benjamin Franklin Parkway; at 21st Street, turn right. Continue on 21st Street for about a mile. At Lombard Street, make a right. The school is on the right, at the corner of Lombard and 25th streets. There is limited parking in the Faculty Parking Lot and two-hour parking on the street. Enter the school through the Lombard Street door.
Coming from the West Take I-76 East to the exit for I-676 East; take the 23rd Street exit, making a right onto 23rd Street. Continue on 23rd Street for about 1 mile. Make a right on Lombard Street. The school is on the right, at the corner of Lombard and 25th streets. There is limited parking in the Faculty Parking Lot and two-hour parking on the street. Enter the school through the Lombard Street door.
Coming North on I-95 Take I-95 North past Philadelphia International Airport. At airport follow lanes diverging from I-95 to I-76 West. Continue across Platt Bridge; turn left after bridge onto I-76 West. Take I-76 West to the University City Exit (on right). At Gray's Ferry, turn right and continue until the road dead ends. Make a right onto Bainbridge Street. At 22nd Street make a left; at Lombard Street, make a right. The school is at the corner of Lombard and 25th streets, on the right. There is limited parking in the Faculty Parking Lot and two-hour parking on the street. Enter the school through the Lombard Street door.
Coming from New Jersey Take Ben Franklin Bridge. Follow signs to I-676 West. Stay on I-676 West to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Exit. Make a right at the exit onto 22nd Street. At Benjamin Franklin Parkway, turn right; at 21st Street, turn right. Continue on 21st Street for about a mile. At Lombard Street, make a right. The school is on the right, at the corner of Lombard and 25th streets. There is limited parking in the Faculty Parking Lot and two-hour parking on the street. Enter the school through the Lombard Street door. Directions to the Athletic Field (Markward Playground) Follow any of the above directions to the school. Continue on Lombard Street two blocks to Taney Street; make a right and continue for one block. The field is located on the left side of the dead-end corner of Taney and Pine Streets.
Directions to Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education (SCEE)
The environmental education program and several other outdoor activities of The Philadelphia School take place at the Schuylkill Center, which is located in the northwest corner of Philadelphia, in the neighborhood of Roxborough. Here are recommended directions to SCEE:
From Route 76 via Main Street to avoid Ridge Ave: Exit at Green Lane/Belmont Avenue exit (#338). From westbound, turn right at bottom of ramp; from eastbound, turn left at bottom of ramp. Get in the left lane, and take a left at the traffic light onto Main Street. Turn right on Leverington Ave, and a quick left at the traffic light onto Umbria St. Continue on Umbria for 1.5 miles, then bear right to go up the hill on Shawmont Ave. At the stop sign, turn left on Eva St. To reach the main SCEE entrance, turn right at the T onto Port Royal Ave. Then take the first left onto Hagy’s Mill Road; the SCEE driveway is ahead on the left.
From Center City via Kelly Drive (an alternate route to the highway): Take Kelly Drive along the river and take a right on West Hunting Park Ave ( at the Laurel Hill Cemetary). Continue .8 miles on W Hunting Park, and take a left on Henry Ave. Continue on Henry Ave for 5 miles, and turn left on Port Royal Ave. To reach the main SCEE entrance, cross Ridge and turn right onto Hagy's Mill Road. The SCEE driveway is ahead on left.
