It was another busy week here in JU-A. Fifth graders visited the Franklin Institute to conclude their science program. On Friday afternoon, all students enjoyed a very special event, “100 Years Ago” Day. This event was entirely envisioned and organized by two of our students, Maddie R-G and Lucy S. As a culmination of our study of immigration and lives of those coming to America, Maddie and Lucy created an afternoon of activities to demonstrate what school was like for children in 1908. It was an exciting event for all involved.
On Thursday, we returned to Shelly Ridge and once again enjoyed a great day! We completed our work in all of our classes and spent some time picking up trash to take care the environment at Shelly Ridge.
Next Thursday we will have our annual water play day at Shelly Ridge, following the 5th grade Egg Drop. Please remember that students may get wet and should dress accordingly. As they put the finishing touches on their water toys, please help them choose recycled materials that did not formerly contain harmful chemicals. Also on Thursday, students should be prepared to clean out their cubbies and bring all of their school materials home. To facilitate this, please send a plastic bag to school with your son or daughter.
Next Tuesday, there will be a fifth grade party at 3:20 p.m., immediately following the school day. Students must be picked up promptly at 4:30 p.m. in JU-A. Please note that we need a signed permission slipBUT we do NOT need payment for the party (those of you who have sent in your $5 will have it returned – we have found “alternative funding”!).
Next Friday, June 6, students will attend graduation. They are not to bring any belongings with them to school on that day. They will be dismissed to the yard directly from the gym. Dismissal is at 11:30 p.m. There is no ASEP program on that day.
Information about summer assignments will be emailed to you in the next few weeks. If you haven’t been receiving emails regularly from the TPS office, please email TPSwebmaster@tpschool.org. If you need a hard copy, please let us know on the tear sheet below.
