MIDDLE SCHOOL NOTES

May 30, 2008

Dear Middle School Families,

It’s our last Friday Note!  How did that happen?

There were many presentations this week in theme and science classes.  Students are busy finishing books for language arts classes, mastering topics in math, and speaking in Spanish.  Sixth and seventh graders will be receiving their summer math books next week, along with a summer reading and/or theme assignment (these will be posted on the Student page of the school website).

This Saturday is the solar car race.  Virginia will bring the solar panels to the race, along with spare parts, trouble-shooting supplies, and fresh batteries.  Competitors need to bring their car (a shoebox is good for transport) with battery pack attached, as well as any spare parts specific to their car that are not standard.  Competitors should also wear a TPS or other red shirt so they (and Virginia) can find each other.  Please email (vfriedman@tpschool.org) or call Virginia with questions.

Monday is Move-Up Day.  Eighth graders have lunch in the preschool, while 6th and 7th graders will be eating lunch in next year’s advisee groups.   Tuesday is our last Shelly Ridge day.  We have invited an ice-cream truck; each student may buy one treat from it, but those who have done community service this year are at the front of the long line.

Next week is the big cleanup.  Everything needs to be out of student cubbies by Thursday afternoon.  On Friday, students arrive, go to graduation ceremonies in the gym after morning meeting, and are dismissed didrectly from the gym. There should be nothing left to retrieve from Middle School on Friday.  The school building closes at 11:30 a.m.

The Drama Club did a fantastic job performing “The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood” three times this week.  It was hilarious (and good comedy is hard to perform!).  Bravo!

It has been our pleasure teaching your children this year.  Have a wonderful, relaxing summer.  See you in the fall!
