WEEKLY REMINDER

May 28, 2008

Today is the final meeting of the advanced chess group; Friday is the final meeting of the intermediate II class. The Monday chess session ended this past Monday.

Don’t forget to come and invite all your friends to tonight’s finale of The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood performed by TPS Drama Club at 7:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

Several parents have alerted us to a national effort to "Drive Nowhere" on Friday, May 30. We encourage our families who live within walking distance to school to walk to school—and to all their destinations—on Friday and others who usually drive to carpool or take the bus.

Parents of eighth graders: Please do not schedule any appointments for your child during the school day; graduation speech writing and rehearsals are in full swing, and we need everyone to be present. Also, please make sure your child arrives at school on time as many of our rehearsals begin first period.

Don't forget: TPSA’s End-of-Year Picnic is this Friday, May 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. (please note time change). TPSA is still looking for parent volunteers to help during the event, as well as for several families to bring home-baked desserts (remember, no nuts of any kind!). Contact Kristin Kopple at kkopple@brynmawr.edu if you are interested in these opportunities for involvement. We hope to see you there!

Everyone is also invited to attend the ASEP End-of-Year Celebration on Tuesday, June 3 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the schoolyard. Come for food, drinks, and sweets and to hear Measure for Measure perform!

Come out and support the several TPS students who will be appearing in the Spring Showcase for The Philadelphia Dance Academy at The Mandell Theater (on Drexel’s campus) on Monday, June 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and advance purchase is recommended. Contact Amy Hunnicut at cahunnicut@comcast.net for more info.

SUMMER PROGRAMS: Forms are available online for the ASEP Early Summer Program (June 9 to 13), TPS Enrichment Camp (June 16 to 27), and TPS Day Camp @ Shelly Ridge (June 16 to 27).

Several of our students are looking for soccer teammates: the Palumbo Soccer Club is holding Fall 2008 Travel Team Tryouts on Saturday, May 31 (raindate, June 7). For more information, email maxsmom94@comcast.net.

It is very important that families do thorough head checks for lice tonight and everyday. And now that the students have returned to Shelly Ridge, please remember to look for deer ticks as well.

A mailing has gone out to all families who will be returning to TPS next fall. Please note that the Registration Form and the Classroom Information Form are due in the school office by Monday, June 9. The medical forms are due later in the summer.

Please remember to check iCal for more detailed and more comprehensive calendar information.

Break a leg and congratulations to the cast and crew of The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood and the director, Carrie Spaulding. Thank you to parent volunteers Jane Epstein, Sheila Addis, Bridget Bullen, Lynne Dorman, Gail Fairman, and Nily Dan for all their assistance and support. Don’t forget to come and invite all your friends to tonight’s finale performance at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.
