MusicPrivate after school music lessons are taught at The Philadelphia School by Philadelphia-area musicians. Instruction is currently being offered in cello, flute, guitar, piano, recorder, percussion, and voice. Nearly half of our students study music after school at TPS.
Each year, student have the opportunity to play in an instrumental ensemble. Depending upon student interest, the afterschool music program has included string, flute, guitar, and percussion ensembles. The program holds several recitals throughout the school year; all students, regardless of whether they take music lessons at The Philadelphia School or outside of school, may perform in these recitals. There are also two Middle School vocal ensembles: the sixth grade treble choir and Measure for Measure, an a cappella group of seventh and eighth graders. Student musicians are also encouraged to be accompanists at student choral concerts and dramatic performances. |
