Resources

All the information posted for students on the website will be posted in this section. Some of the postings will be temporary; others will be available throughout the school year. The Student Council will post its minutes on the Student Council page. Be sure to check it regularly so you are prepared to particpate in all student Council events. It would be a shame to miss Crazy Hat, Hair, and Pajama Day!

8th Grade Math Resources
As classes turn to a study of algebra, the following sites are recommended as resources when working on homework, preparing for a test, or learning more about a specific topic.

Khan Academy
http://www.khanacademy.org/ is a great site that provides video tutorials on a wide variety of algebra topics.  A narrator works through sample problems on a blackboard as he clearly explains the steps he takes as well as why he takes these steps.  As we launch into our next unit, comparing linear and inverse functions, a great video is Algebra: Equation of a Line. Another useful videos include one on converting an equation into slope-intercept form, which also discusses horizontal and vertical lines (http://www.khanacademy.org/video/converting-to-slope-intercept-form?playlist=Algebra%20I%20Worked%20Examples).

Purple Math provides excellent explanations, definitions, graphs, and step-by-step sample problems.  These lessons are clear and allow users to navigate through at their own pace.
