Student CouncilStudent Council officers from the Middle School are elected each year in the spring for the upcoming academic year. The Student Council includes representatives from grades 1 through 8. The Student Council, either in full or executive session, meets once or twice a month on Mondays during lunch to address student concerns, plan events and community service activities, and share information. Each representative reports the proceedings to his or her classmates. Most Student Council activities are community service in nature. Students sponsor a year-round food drive that serve several Philadelphia social service agencies. They also organize two traditional schoolwide events––Crazy Hat, Hair & Pajamas Day and the Student Talent Show. This year the Student Council officers surprised schoolmates with hot chocolate on a cold winter morning, They also organized a bake sale to raise funds for the Haiti earthquake relief effort. In April they will also be responsible for running the games at our annual Earth Day Celebration.
