Student Council

Student Council officers from the Middle School are elected each year. The council includes representatives from grades 1 through 8.

Full sessions meets once or twice a month on Mondays during lunch to address student concerns, plan events and community service activities, and share information. Each representative reports the proceedings to his or her classmates. Executive committee meetings meet weekly during a special class period set aside for Middle School students to pursue a variety of scheduled activities.

Many Student Council activities are community service in nature. Students sponsor a year-round food drive that serve several Philadelphia social service agencies. They have held bake sales to benefit earthquake victims in Haiti and Japan and to plant street trees in Philadelphia. The Student Council also organizes new and traditional schoolwide events, for example, Crazy Hat, Hair, and Pajamas Day, the Student Talent Show, Rainbow Day (a day when students rotate through several activities as teams), and Earth Day.  (Advisors: Virginia Friedman and Lois West)
