MIDDLE SCHOOL B SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS
June 2008
The following is a list of opportunities for you to learn and expand your knowledge about the continent of Africa and other opportunities to keep up with your skills over summer break.
MAP
- On the map of Africa, you need to label 10 countries and their capitals. You may use the space at the bottom of that page to write in the county names and capitals.
- In the THREE blank rectangles on the map, write in the names of those bodies of water.
- Find and label the equator.
- Outline the rivers in BLUE.
- Please bring this map with you when you return to school in September. It will help you with your first project.
ARTICLES
Find, read, and bring with you in September TWO articles that deal with the continent of Africa. If you can, cut the articles out, but if not, you may bring in the entire magazine/newspaper.
IMAGES
Find and bring in with you in September TWO images that you think represent Africa.
MATH
The summer math book will help you keep what you’ve learned to make it easier to come back in the fall. Try a few problems on each page. If you find you remember and understand, move on. If you need more review, do more problems. There are some great websites that help explain some of the ideas if you need help.

Keep reading throughout the summer. Read what you like. Here is a list of additional books that you may find interesting. Read some of these if you like. But above all, please keep reading!

FUN
Please have some fun during the summer—eat, swim, laugh, dance, be still, listen, explore, pet a dog, kiss a cat, eat a worm or some ice cream, ride a pig….just do something different!
(Our intention is to do something wonderful.)
