Applying to TPS
Our admissions process begins in the fall prior to your desired year of attendance.
You may apply online or download a copy of the application here.
Applications for Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st grade are due December 1, 2017. Applications for 2nd-7th grades are due January 1, 2018. Applications received after these deadlines will be considered only if space allows.
Please note: Preschool applicants must be 4 years old by August 31st of the year that they plan to enter school. Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by August 31st.
- Parent/Guardian Meeting (Required)
Once we receive your application we will contact you to set up a Parent/Guardian Meeting. Your visit will last approximately one hour and will be scheduled Monday through Friday in the morning. Preschool - 1st grade parent meetings must be completed by the 2nd week of December. 2nd - 7th grade parent meetings must be completed by the first week in January.
- School Records (Required)
Provide a copy of your child's school records (if available) by completing the Request for Records Form and sending it to your child's current school. All Records must be received by the last week of December.
- Teacher Recommendations (Required)
We require one recommendation for preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade applicants, and two recommendations for 2nd-7th grade applicants. This requirement is waived for preschool and kindergarten applicants who have not yet attended school.
Please give the appropriate Teacher Recommendation form to a current teacher, who should return the form directly to The Philadelphia School. All Recommendations must be received by the last week of December.
- Play Days and Student Visits (Required)
After we have received your application and paperwork, we will call you to schedule a Play Day (for Preschool and Kindergarten applicants) or a Student Visit (for 1st- 7th grade applicants).
Student Visits (Grades 1-7)
Applicants for 1st grade will visit for one full school day with their peer group in Kindergarten; applicants for 2nd through 7th grades will visit for two consecutive school days with their peer group.
Play Days (Preschool and Kindergarten)
Preschool and kindergarten applicants will be scheduled for a one-hour small group visit.
