Applying to TPS
The admissions process begins in the fall prior to the year of your desired enrollment. You may apply online or download a copy of the application here.

Please note: Preschool applicants must be 4 years old by August 31 of the year that they plan to enter school. Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by August 31.
- Parent/Guardian Meeting
Once we receive your application we will contact you to set up a Parent/Guardian Meeting. Your visit will last approximately one hour and will be scheduled Monday through Friday in the morning. Preschool - 1st grade parent meetings must be completed by the 2nd week of December. Second - 7th grade parent meetings must be completed by the first week in January.
- School Records
Provide a copy of your child's school records (if available) by completing the Request for Records Form and sending it to your child's current school. All Records must be received by the last week of December.
- Teacher Recommendations
We require one recommendation for preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade applicants, and two recommendations for 2nd-7th grade applicants. This requirement is waived for preschool and kindergarten applicants who have not yet attended school.
Please give the appropriate Teacher Recommendation form to a current teacher, who should return the form directly to The Philadelphia School. All Recommendations must be received by the last week of December.
- Play Days and Student Visits
After we have received your application and paperwork, we will call you to schedule a Play Day (for preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade applicants) or a Student Visit (for 2nd - 7th grade applicants).
Student Visits (Grades 2-7)
Applicants for 2nd - 7th grades will visit for two consecutive school days with their peer group.
Play Days (Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st grade)
Preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade applicants will be scheduled for a short morning group visit.
