Did you know … The City of Philadelphia 2014 Leaf Collection Schedule has been posted?
That's right, the City of Philadelphia will be collecting leaves this Fall from November 10 to December 19. Leaves will be collected in one or two ways depending on your neighborhood's trees: in biodegradable paper bags or mechanically by trucks.
If you miss your neighborhood's pick-up dates, leaves (and yard waste) in biodegradable paper bags can be dropped off at 22 designated areas throughout the city. Bagged leaves left curbside on trash day will be sent to the landfill. Please use the leaf collection program so that these compostable resources are recovered and recycled, and not sent to a landfill.
These leaves will be added to the City's compost and mulch program. Residents interested in receiving the "finished product" should contact Fairmount Park at 215-685-0115. For more information about composting, contact the Streets Department Recycling Office at 215-685-5504.
Details about the leaf collection schedule can be found at http://www.philadelphiastreets.com/leaves.
