All-School Weekly Note

TPSA Book Fair: Please stop by tomorrow's Saturday Festival. There will be a variety of exciting activities - crafts, a speed-reading competition, science fiction readings, and a comic book workshop (fully registered).  And, of course, books will be for sale! The fair will be open from 11am to 3pm. Thank you, Monique Curry and David Borgenicht, for being our guest authors.

Winterfest at SCEE: We are excited to celebrate all things COSMOS out at the Schuylkill Center on Saturday, December 13, from 3 to 8pm. Read more about this fun event, which will feature star gazing with Franklin Institute astronomer Derrick Pitts. TPS is co-sponsoring this event with SCEE.

Winter Concerts: Here is the schedule for upcoming concerts in the Garage.

  • Preschool and Kindergarten Sing: Friday, December 12, 9am
  • Primary Unit Choir, MS Mixed Choir, & Measure for Measure, plus Junior and Sandra Dean String Ensembles: Tuesday, December 16, 9am
  • Third Grade & Junior Unit Choir, MS Mixed Choir, & Measure for Measure, plus the Sandra Dean String Ensemble: Wednesday, December 17, 9am

Winter Recess: The school buildings close on Friday, December 19, at 3pm. There will be no ASEP or MSAS. School reopens on Monday, January 5.

Remaining SNOWFLAKES: There are a few snowflakes left for the TPSA gift drive for the Family Care Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. They are hanging only in the Lombard Street building through next week. If you participate, please bring all gifts, UNWRAPPED AND WITH THE SNOWFLAKE ATTACHED, to the main lobby by December 15th. If you have any questions, please call or email Dorothy Novick: 267-872-5600 or [email protected].

Wintry Weather Information: Rule of thumb: If the School District of Philadelphia is closed because of snow, so is TPS. This rule also applies to mid-day closings and cancellations of after school activities.

School Photos: School photos by Kate Riccardi are still available for order online. The password to the website hosting the photos was sent in an email to families earlier.
