Apple Scarecrows

Third graders learned about the basics of facial features and carved an apple into an interesting face, which they decorated with pasta, coffee beans, wool, and chickpeas. Students designed and sewed clothing for their dried apple heads. In conjunction of their classroom study of water, they observed the dehydration of apples, weighing the apples three times and recording how many grams of water were lost to dehydration.
