Seventh grade teacher Virginia Friedman just returned from a breath-taking week in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. She reports that the wildlife, camping, hiking, and fishing were amazing, but none as much as the geology. The fact that Yellowstone is an active volcano gives it some elements (luckily?) not found in Pennsylvania. Geysers, steam vents, mud pots, hot springs – it was geology overload! Virginia is excited to bring these topics into the geology curriculum in the fall.
