Did you know?
You can safely dispose of household hazardous waste and prescription drugs – locally and FREE of charge!
Two upcoming events:
· September 27, 2014 – National Prescription Take Back Day, with local events in and around Philadelphia. Please see http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/ for more information. Trinity Church at 22nd and Spruce is the closest drop-off location to TPS, but there are locations all over the city, state, and nation!
· October 18, 2014 – Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Disposal Event, 3033 South 63rd Street, Philadelphia. More information, including a long list of items that can and should be disposed of at an HHW event and NOT in weekly refuse or recycling collections can be found at http://www.philadelphiastreets.com/events/household-hazardous-waste-events/ If you can't make it to October's event, there are events monthly from April-November (excluding August). Each month the event is held in a different location, so be sure to check the website for those details as well.
Don't forget, you can recycle several items at TPS, too: markers and highlighters, crayons, household batteries, chip bags and energy bar wrappers. Collection bins for these items can be found in the hallway near the multi-purpose room. Next week's tip will include more information about the recycling and composting efforts at TPS … so stay tuned!
