Green & Healthy Tip

Did you know?

You can safely dispose of household hazardous waste and prescription drugs – locally and FREE of charge!

Two upcoming events:

·      September 27, 2014 – National Prescription Take Back Day, with local events in and around Philadelphia. Please see for more information. Trinity Church at 22nd and Spruce is the closest drop-off location to TPS, but there are locations all over the city, state, and nation!

·      October 18, 2014 – Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Disposal Event, 3033 South 63rd Street, Philadelphia. More information, including a long list of items that can and should be disposed of at an HHW event and NOT in weekly refuse or recycling collections can be found at If you can't make it to October's event, there are events monthly from April-November (excluding August). Each month the event is held in a different location, so be sure to check the website for those details as well.

Don't forget, you can recycle several items at TPS, too:  markers and highlighters, crayons, household batteries, chip bags and energy bar wrappers. Collection bins for these items can be found in the hallway near the multi-purpose room. Next week's tip will include more information about the recycling and composting efforts at TPS … so stay tuned!
