Reach Out and Read

This past week the children in Primary A, B, C, and D have been reading and talking about Martin Luther King, Jr. We also kicked off our annual classroom Martin Luther King service activity, a Read-athon to benefit Reach Out and Read of Greater Philadelphia, an organization that partners with doctors to prescribe books to children and encourage families to read together.

On Thursday, Kirsten Rogers, Coordinator of Reach Out and Read, visited with our first and second graders to talk about the organization and her work. The children seemed eager to use their many talents as readers to help other children in their own, Philadelphia community. The read-athon will continue to Valentine's Day.
