An Afternoon at the Opera

On Wednesday, our eighth graders were among 1,500 students who attended Philadelphia Opera's final dress rehearsal of La Traviata at the Academy of Music.  They prepared for the performance in music class, where teacher Shannon Coulter guided them through the Philadelphia Opera's "Sounds of Learning" education program.

Here are some student reviews of the experience:

  • "It was just like a play but the words were song instead of spoken."
  • "Shannon prepared us well, and it paid off."
  • It was a new experience for me, and it was fun to be there with my classmates."
  • "I prefer baseball, but it was an interesting opportunity."
