This Saturday's 2nd Annual Pumpkin Chunkin' event was a smashing success! Thank you to everyone who came out to support this Student Council fundraiser. Special thanks to teachers Dan Lai, Chris Gignac, and Mike Friedman; Jena Croxford; and Student Council advisors Virginia Friedman and Lois West for spending a Saturday afternoon helping students and parents safely hammer, bat, dunk, and drop dozens and dozens of pumpkins! Parent Olea Daniels, thank you, for your help – all afternoon! – at the refreshment stand.
The Student Council raised close to $300 to support the relocation of Syrian refugee families in Philadelphia by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society of Pennsylvania (HIAS PA). And we (in a very fun way) composted what seemed like hundreds of pounds of orange organic waste!
A special thanks, too, to Bennett Compost, which took on the herculean task of composting our chunked pumpkins. Owner Tim Bennett was on hand to talk to visitors about composting in general and about his composting business and services.
