Congratulations to Evie Johnson '12, who placed first for the regional branch of The English-Speaking Union (ESU) National Shakespeare Competition, a program serving students in grades 9-12.
Students participating in the ESU program read, analyze, perform and recite Shakespearean monologues and sonnets in three qualifying stages: at the school, community, and national levels.
Evie's win qualifies her to compete at the national competition in late April at Lincoln Center in New York City, where seven to ten finalists will be chosen to compete in the final round for the opportunity to attend a summer drama program in England.
Evie attends high school at Friends' Central School. We like to think that she first got to know the Bard here at TPS in the Shakespeare Festival.
