Important Message from the TPSA Community Response Committee: We just heard word that one of our TPS families has close relatives who lost everything in a house fire. Latasha Harling's sister and her family (2 adults and 4 children) could use some help with food, clothing, and household items while waiting for the insurance to get them back on their way. Donations of clothing only can be dropped off with Teri and Jordan at the Lombard Street building. Sizes are as follow: women's XL top, 16 bottom, 10 shoe; men's L top, 36 bottom, 9 show; 13-year-old boy men's S top, 28 bottom, 8 shoe (uniform colors burgundy top, tan pants); girls ages 4, 7, & 9 uniform colors - yellow top and blue bottoms). To donate household items, please contact Victoria Bastian at [email protected], and she will make arrangements to receive them. Congratulations to Our 8th Grade Thespians! The Class of 2015 turned out spectacular performances throughout this week's Shakespeare Festival. There were four performances each of Much Ado About Nothing and The Tempest. Not sure if you have been following Frank Bruni's recent New York Times columns about the importance of studying Shakespeare in college, but at TPS we are certain that reading and performing Shakespeare in 8th grade – and presenting them to their younger schoolmates – are transformational for all!
Re-enrollment: A reminder that enrollment agreements were due earlier this week.
February Birthday Breakfast: We will be celebrating birthdays (grades 1-8) on February 27, 8am, Multipurpose Room.
Heelys (aka shoes with wheels): For safety reasons, children who wear Heelys to school may not wear them with the wheels exposed anytime during the school day.
Annual Physical Exams: It's hard to believe but it's that time to start thinking about scheduling your child's annual physical exam so all required forms are here at TPS before the first day of school next fall. Children may not enter school unless all forms are in.
TPS Blog: Hope you have been reading the TPS blog. A lot has been happening at TPS – hope you are reading about them!
Facebook: Like our page on Facebook and help us reach 800 likes by March! We are at 780!
Why I Give: Did you see or hear about this week's incredible 8th grade productions of The Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing? One former TPS parent has told us that her family supports The Philadelphia School Fund because "the Shakespeare curriculum has had a long-lasting and far-reaching impact" on the lives of her children. Help us reach 100% parent participation by Friday, March 27. To date, 31% of parents, 99% of faculty and staff, and 100% of trustees have contributed to The Philadelphia School Fund.
