Our 4th and 5th graders hosted a Chinese New Year Open House in their classrooms today for their families and friends. The festivities began in the Garage, where students presented a concert of vocal and instrumental music related to their classroom study of China.
Afterwards the celebration continued in the classrooms - as well as in the hallways, where students showed off the "fantastic creatures" they created in art class. The creatures were inspired by the dragons, kylins, phoenixes, koi, and serpents that are represented in the arts and architecture of China's past.
The open house featured a broad assortment of exhibits showcasing student work. The children were fabulous exhibitors - eager to share their knowledge with their guests!
