On March 26 preschool through fifth grade students will finally enjoy an end-of-winter celebration filled with snow! We will learn about the science of snow, create glistening beaded snowflakes, and form translucent window “snow clings.” The highlight of the day will be the construction of homemade snow globes to take home. During our physical activity time, students will play with cotton “snow ball” puffs in the Yard or gym. Choice games, indoor and outdoor activities, and a snow-related snack will be provided.
March 27 will be all about tile! Students in first through fifth grade will enjoy a trip to the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, a working museum and historic landmark located in Doylestown, PA. We will tour the museum’s collection and observe how the handmade tiles are created using same tile forming and pressing techniques Thomas Mercer introduced in the 1800’s. A mid-morning snack will be provided. Preschool and kindergarten children will spend the day at TPS creating and learning about handmade tiles. We will watch an engaging presentation about the history of tiles and learn how handmade tiles are formed. Using colorful authentic glass tiles, each child will construct a tile mirror to take home. Indoor and outdoor choice activities will be provided, and weather permitting, students will enjoy playtime at the park. A mid-morning snack will be provided.
