The cold, blustery weather on Wednesday didn’t stop our intrepid Primary D and B neighborhood explorers on our visit to Fishtown. Our tour began at Greensgrow Farm, where we had the opportunity to visit the greenhouses and interview Katelyn, the lead farmer. A highlight of our visit was meeting Milkshake, a chubby resident pig, and Ping, a charming Muscovy duck. After lunch at Penn Treaty Park, we visited Coral Street Arts House, where we learned about the Fishtown Kinetic Sculpture Derby that features a variety of human-powered vehicle floats. The children were fascinated to find out that the race ends with a messy splashdown in a mud pit! Don’t be surprised if your child wants to turn his/or her bike into a float for the Derby! Our trip came to a sweet conclusion at Little Baby's Ice Cream World Headquarters, where we learned how they make ice cream and had a chance to sample some popular flavors.
