Have you noticed some new resource recovery and sorting bins around TPS? There is a green one for compost, a blue one for recycling, and a black one for the trash that goes to a landfill. TPS has made a commitment to work towards zero waste. That means zero trash! To aid in this effort, the TPSA Green & Healthy Team and the TPS Student Council have teamed up to collect several items that can sometimes be hard to recycle.
Today's Trash Talk will focus on these items. The recycling collection station is located in the hallway that leads into the multi-purpose room, and right next to the lost and found. There is a small rack with clearly labeled recycling collection tubs for:
- Chip, pretzel and snack bags, along with energy/granola bar wrappers (Please empty all crumbs and place them in the Terra Cycle bin!)
- Batteries - AAA, AA, C, D 9-volt, and button cell (Please place them in the plastic bag that is inside the bin)
- Markers such as Crayola, Sharpies, Highlighters, etc. – any brand or style
- Crayons – any brand or style
- Cell phones
Still unsure? Look at the sign on each bin, or watch the plasma for some tips. If you are really stumped, ask a member of the TPSA Green & Healthy Team or a Green & Healthy Student Ambassador. And if you still have questions, be sure to read the weekly green & healthy tip for more information!
If you have other items that can and should be recycled, but are not quite sure what to do with them or where to take them, then check out these resources for help:
