Neighborhood Event: The Fitler Square Association is looking for volunteers at the Fitler Square Fair Children's Booth on Friday, May 8 (9am-6pm) and Saturday, May 9 (9am-6pm) at http://doodle.com/c8k5kdcmk4g7vych. Questions?  Email Gemina Gianino. Our very own Measure for Measure a cappella group will be performing at the fair on Friday, from 4 to 4:30pm.

School closed: TPS will be closed on Friday, May 22, for Faculty and Staff In-Service

Special ASEP: ASEP Annual Pre-Memorial Day Picnic for preschool-5th graders, Friday, May 22. Join us for a fun-filled ASEP Annual Pre-Memorial Day Picnic at TPS! On this in-service day for faculty and staff, students will design sun visors, prepare their choice of hoagie sandwich, and help bake cookies for dessert. Following our outdoor (weather permitting) “picnic” lunch, we will play summer-related games and activities with a summer gift for all to take home. Click here for more info and to register.

Civil War Re-enactor: Yesterday MSAS students had the opportunity to meet a Civil War re-enactor, who spoke about his passion for Civil War history and who demonstrated, in the school yard, how muskets were fired back in the day. Musket "fire" sounded three times. We hope that this did not cause concern, and upon reflection, we realized that this type of demonstration should not take place at school.

April Annual Fund Results Are in: Your support for Come and Give it, our celebration of philanthropy at TPS on March 26 and 27, pushed us from 46% to 61% family participation!  And just as exciting, that represents 43 gifts in just a few days.  Thank you! We are still aiming for 100%.

EATS: Have you sent in your rsvp yet? You can purchase your ticket here. We look forward to seeing you at EATS on Friday, May 15, from 7 to 10:30pm. You won't want to miss it!

3rd Grade Art Exhibit at the Schuylkill Center: Through May 17, you can visit the exhibit Tiny Acorn to Mighty Oak: Seed Power, featuring the art of our third graders. Click here for more information about this incredible art show.

Pedestrian Safety: A reminder to look out for turning cars when you are crossing the street when the light is green. Also please make sure young children hold an adult's hand when crossing a street; do not send the children across the street without you.

Photo Books: Class photo books – an EATS tradition – are on sale this year before EATS!  Buy your books online this year and take home the memories of your child's 2014-15 year at TPS. The books are designed by TPS parents, with proceeds helping to support our Financial Aid program. Purchase here or sign up at Lombard Street or South Street to pay with check.

EATS Volunteer Opportunities: Please take a moment and sign up to help with set up and break down of EATS! We could really use your help! Click here to pick a convenient time slot.

Tick Checks:  Please remember to do a tick check as part of your child's evening routine following a day at the Schuylkill Center. If you remove a tick within 24 hours, you can greatly reduce the risk of Lyme disease. For more information, go to page 18 of the School Handbook.

Parent Move-up Meetings: Each spring we hold move-up meetings for parents whose children are moving from one unit to another or from one "stand-alone" grade to another. Mark your calendars for 5-6pm on

  • Tuesday, May 5, Parent Meeting for students entering Kindergarten & 4th grade
  • Thursday, May 7, Parent Meeting for students entering 6th, 7th, & 8th grades

We are having two parents-only receptions after two of the move-up meetings - one for kindergarten on May 5 from 6-7:30pm (Garage) and one for 6th grade on May 7 from 6-7:30pm (Garage). Parents should have received an emailed invitation.
