On Friday, April 17, preschool through fifth-grade students will enjoy a day of Japanese cultural activities in honor of the Philadelphia Cherry Blossom Festival.
Students will create handmade books using Japanese decorative papers and learn Japanese bookbinding/sewing techniques. Students will also fold origami structures and learn about and practice Furoshiki, the art of Japanese wrapping, using brightly patterned papers.
While enjoying a Japanese snack, students will learn about the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Choice games, indoor and outdoor activities will be provided.
