Yo quiero frutas, por favor.

"Yo quiero frutas, por favor," asks a kindergarten student while being handed a cup of fresh fruits by a Spanish-speaking parent helper in our TPS Garden.

Yes, another language was being spoken last Thursday, May 21, at the Early Childhood Education Center. The porches, Garage, and pathways were transformed into a Spanish Market, or Mercado, to celebrate a school year of learning Español and Latino culture in preschool and kindergarten.

In addition to delicious treats – some donated and served by Jezebel, owner of Gavin's – live music by a Puerto Rican singer, stories about Latino culture, and dancing were all part of a very festive day.
