Elijah Beale: Tech Support Specialist
Elijah is returning to TPS as Tech Support Specialist, a position he held two years ago in a part-time capacity. Elijah will focus on network administration and help desk support. 


Kim Carter: Director of Auxiliary Programming
Kim comes to TPS from Moonstone, where she was director since 2010. She is a graduate of Drexel University, where she earned a B.S., with full certification, in elementary education.  Kim also holds a master's degree in special education from Saint Joseph’s University.  

Meghan Covington: Development Special Projects
Meghan received a B.A. in political science from Colorado College and an M.B.A. from Boston University. Before joining our school community as an events consultant last year, she had been an events specialist in the private sector.

Jena Croxford: Assistant to the Head of School
Jena joins TPS with a master's in education and more than 12 years experience in the field. Her background includes classroom teaching in both public and independent schools, communications and marketing experience, and work with international and domestic education programs at the U.S. Department of Education. 

Jean Gizzi: Receptionist
Prior to moving to Philadelphia, Jean worked at an elementary school in Maryland. She has been a volunteer for a child advocacy program for more than 10 years.

Genvieve Goldstein: Development Associate, Alumni & Parent Engagement
Genvieve comes to us from the Arden Theatre Company, where she was Manager of Individual Giving. Previously she was the Director of Events for the Tug McGraw Foundation, where she developed and coordinated fund-raising events and programs. Genvieve received a B.S. in film and television from Boston University.

Matthew Murray: Tech Integrator
Matt comes to us from String Theory School, an Apple Distinguished School. He taught English and was Course Designer and Curriculum Content Creator. Matt has a B.A. from Northwestern University, where he majored in English literature and minored in psychology. He has a master's degree in secondary education from Holy Family University.

Emily Silberstein: Advancement Associate
Emily interned in both the Development and Auxiliary Programming offices last year, and we are delighted that she accepted a full-time staff position with us upon graduating from the University of Pennsylvania this past May.



Melissa Roldan-Stills: Kindergarten assistant teacher
Melissa has a B.A. in journalism from Ithaca College and an M.A. in theater education from Emerson College. She is certified in Early Education and Care. She worked as a lead preschool teacher at Harvard’s Oxford Street Daycare Cooperative and as an assistant teacher at Hills and Falls Nursery School.  

Jordan Lee: Primary B
Jordan has a B.S. in elementary education from The College of New Jersey. Her focus was on math, science, and technology. Jordan worked as lead teacher at New Egypt Middle School in New Jersey, the American International School of Abuja in Nigeria, and South River Middle School in New Jersey. Last year at TPS she helped administer auxiliary programming and substituted in the Primary Unit.

Jennifer Giampetro: Primary C
Jennifer has a B.A in English from Temple University and a M.Ed. in elementary education from Temple University. She is certified to teach K-6th grade. Jennifer worked as a lead classroom teacher in two Philadelphia public schools. She has a strong background in literacy, having completed Wilson Reading System Training Level 1 Certification.

Suzanne Lee: 3-A
Suzanne has a B.A in history from Dartmouth College and a M.S.Ed in early childhood, general, and special education from Bank Street College. Over the past eight years, Suzanne has worked for two community-based charter schools, first in Philadelphia and then New York. In Philadelphia, she spent five years at Folk Arts Cultural Treasures Charter School, established to serve the immigrant population. In New York, Suzanne was a 3rd grade solo teacher and then a 3rd grade special education co-teacher in an inclusive classroom.

Jenson Cheng: Junior Unit A
Jenson was born and raised in Taiwan, and his formal education in China was at the National Taiwan Academy of Arts, where he studied wood carving and sculpting. He arrives at TPS with a deep knowledge of both Greek and Chinese history and philosophy and over 15 years teaching in the Philadelphia public schools. Jenson earned an M.F.A from University of the Arts and completed a teaching certificate program at Arcadia University.

Nick Dekker: Junior Unit D
A native of Philadelphia, Nick earned his B.A. from Hampshire College, with concentrations in American history and journalism. He has taught fifth and sixth grades at Greene Street Friends, and he has worked in the after school program at Penn Charter. Some families may know him as a counselor at Camp Dark Waters.

Katrina Jones: 6th grade
Katrina brings more than eight years of teaching, literally around the world, to the 6th grade team. After earning a B.A. in Elementary Education and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Oral Roberts University, she lived and taught in Slovakia, the United Arab Emirates, and South Africa. Most recently she taught at Pan American Charter School in Philadelphia.

Ashley Opalka: 8th grade
Ashley becomes a full-time 8th grade team member, having spent last year teaching Latin, directing Shakespeare, and continuing her role part-time as Director of Admission for grades 1-7. She has a B.A. in classical studies and archaeology from Bryn Mawr College and an M.M. in vocal performance from Temple University. Previous to joining TPS in the Admission Office in 2009, she was a fifth grade assistant teacher at the Brearley School in New York City.  

Maggie Dougherty: Spanish
Maggie, who worked this year as a long-term Spanish substitute at TPS, has a B.A. in English and Spanish and an M.A. in Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, both from La Salle University. She has taught Spanish at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Cecilia Genzlinger: Spanish
A native of Mexico, Cecilia most recently taught Spanish at Bryn Athyn Church School. She has a bachelor's degree in international business from UNIDEP Laureate International Universities in Mexico.


Giovana Robinson: Spanish
Giovana has extensive experience teaching both Spanish and music. Most recently she taught elementary and middle school Spanish at Holy Trinity Regional School. Giovana earned her B.A. in music education at Adventist University of Colombia.
