Please plan to join us for a special Progressive Talk on Tuesday, December 6 (6:00-8:30 p.m. in the Gym), when we will be showing the documentary film Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age (68 minutes). Afterwards there will be a discussion with director Delaney Ruston.
Screenagers is about the impact of the digital age on children and how to help families minimize harmful effects and find balance. After seeing the film, viewers have reported that they feel more confident and better equipped to establish balance around screen time.
Our discussion with Delany Ruston will encourage us to consider such questions as
- Are violent video games desensitizing?
- Does the time kids spend on cell phones affect social skill development?
- What do brain studies indicate relative to screen use?
- What can schools do to address screen time issues at school? What can parents do at home?
Special thanks to TPS parent Maryann Connolly and to TPSA for generously underwriting this screening. Because of expected high interest, attendance is limited only to those who rsvp.
