Last week, as part of our ongoing mindfulness program, the students in Mary Beth and Lisa’s Preschool classroom enjoyed an afternoon with Isaac Garfield learning a simple song that supports breathing and calm. Isaac is a Philadelphia-based psychotherapist who at one time lived and studied with Zen Master Thich Naht Hanh.
Afterwards, while the children rested on their mats, Isaac read a children's story, Peaceful Piggy Meditation, that reinforces the importance of being able to calm yourself. A focus of Isaac’s work is restoring in people a connection to nature and mindfulness, and working with individuals and families through video/internet addiction. Isaac plans to return in March to begin working with other preschool and kindergarten classrooms.
Here is a link to the song. We hope you enjoy it at home. It works on adults, too!
