You Go Girls Sleep Over

You Go Girls had their annual sleepover in the Garage last Friday!

You Go Girls is a club that supports sisterhood and self-esteem in the context of running. Participants run 1.5 - 3 miles each week together.

Friday evening, club members watched an empowering movie about an adolescent female gymnast who overcomes some personal challenges to have a successful outcome (American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars), and then the girls had fun talking quietly by flashlight before going to sleep. In the morning we had a powerful Rites of Passage Ceremony.

Here are some thoughts from the girls at Monday practice about the sleepover:

  • "It's something that I'll never forget."
  • "I got to know other people that I didn't know that well."
  • "If anyone didn't think that was fun, I'm not sure what is."
  • "It was a great Sole Sister bonding experience."
  • "I remember the quote, 'Whatever you become, be a good one.'"
