Each year TPS third graders participate in the Dream Flag Project by writing dream poems and making dream flags. This project is inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes and by the tradition of Nepalese Buddhist prayer flags.
The culmination of the project was the display of their flags – alongside those made by students from many other schools in the Philadelphia area and around the world – at the 13th annual Dream Fest at The National Constitution Center on Saturday.
Representative poets from our third grade classrooms joined poets from other schools and read their poems from the stage at the Constitution Center. Ten third graders attended the event, and four of them – Leila, Alex, Izzy, and Siena – read their dream poems from the stage.
