This morning we hosted PhillyPLUS (Pathways to Leadership In Urban Schools) for an instructional walkthrough. PhillyPLUS is an alternative pathway to principal certification in the city of Philadelphia. Educational leaders from public, charter and parochial schools visited TPS to see progressive education in action in our classrooms.
PhillyPLUS is building a network of school leaders who can partner with teachers to create thriving classrooms where Philadelphia students excel. Today, nearly 100 PhillyPLUS alumni lead schools across the city.
The visit was arranged by Meredith Lowe '01, who is the Program Director of PhillyPLUS. Meredith started her career in education as a Teaching Fellow, teaching middle school mathematics at the Garfield Middle School in Revere, MA. She has a B.A. in American studies and sociology from Wesleyan University, an M.Ed. in educational leadership from Lesley University, and an M.Ed. and principal’s certification from Chestnut Hill College.
