The Spinning and Felting middle school Intensive has been a combination of hands-on work and an overview of natural fibers – their unique characteristics and uses.
We have been spinning yarn on a drop spindle and hand dying our own roving (a continuous strand of loosely twisted and drawn fibers) for spinning, We also washed and carded raw (dirty) fleece for spinning and felting. Currently, we are learning wet felting techniques with needle felting embellishment. We have also watched an number of funny and interesting videos about sheep:
