On Monday, January 15, more than 40 middle school families (and several alumni!) took part in our annual MLK, Jr. Day of Service sandwich-making extravaganza – they made more than 600 hearty sandwiches. Families with children in grades 1-5 made hundreds of desserts, which were delivered with the sandwiches to nine shelters in the Philadelphia region.
Preschool and kindergarten families assembled scores of "emergency breakfast packets" – each one containing a juice or milk box and a breakfast bar. They were donated to several public schools, where school nurses distribute them to students who arrive to school hungry.
Special thanks to parent Lavonia Waddington, who – together with her family – organized a wonderful school-wide community service project in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
