Three-day Storytelling Residency

This year’s All-School Theme - Myths and Fables - will truly come alive this week as we welcome renowned storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston to TPS for a three-day residency.

Each day will begin with unit-based assemblies, followed by classroom visits. Workshops will range from Stories of Friendship in the kindergarten to Shakespeare: Telling Your Character’s Story in the 8th grade.

Ms. Blake Alston has performed throughout North America and abroad. Venues have included the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Smithsonian Institution, the Kimmel Center, the Women of the World Festival in South Africa, prisons, and a refugee camp in northern Senegal.

In 1991, Ms. Blake Alston became the first storyteller to perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra; she has been the host of “Sound All Around” and appears as a guest host and narrator on family concerts. She also hosted “Carnegie Kids,” Carnegie Hall’s Preschool concert series, and has been a featured artist on the Carnegie Hall Family Concert Series in NY for more than a decade.

We look forward to our time together with Ms. Blake Alston - and to all the wonderful stories we will hear and write with her!
