Last Thursday we had our big annual Preschool and Kindergarten Spanish learning celebration, El Mercado. Students made papel picado decorations with Kate and Rick, practiced La Raspa Mexican hat dance with Bart, practiced mercado songs with Chris, made their own piraguas syrup from fresh frutas with Madeline, cut the fruits, and decorated the garden. Students used their español to ask for frutas and piraguas (Puerto Rican–style snow cones) from family volunteers. We even had a special visit from TPS alum Daniel Leonard (Madeline’s son!) who was back visiting from college. We also had a wonderful performance from Magdaliz Roura!
Many thanks to all of the Spanish expert families and special guests who came in to help! A particularly special guest was Daniel Leonard '13, who is home from his first year at Harvard. Thank you, Lauren Harel for the beautiful photographs.
