Cambodian Refugee Story

Last week, Rex Yin, Youth Development Coordinator for the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia, spoke to 8th grade students about his story as a Cambodian refugee. He led an interactive activity about Asian Americans who were influential in the Civil Rights Movement.

Students read case studies that highlighted the work of prominent Asian Americans, such as Richard Aoki, Grace Lee Boggs, and Yuri Kochiyama, and they drew illustrations depicting the main messages of the case studies.
