Seventh grader George D-D, TPS’s highest-rated chess player, won first place in the 54-player field in the “Under 1500” division of the “Liberty Bell Open” chess tournament. George went undefeated, winning five and drawing two games; he came home with 120 rating points and a very large check!
The Liberty Bell Open is a national event held yearly in Center City Philadelphia. It attracts both strong scholastic players and grandmasters alike. Congrats, George!
