It was a beautiful Saturday evening to enjoy our country classroom out at the Schuylkill Center. Families made lanterns, took an evening hike, watched a live animal show, and enjoyed making and eating s'mores. Thank you, Middle School teacher Virginia Friedman for organizing the event. And thank you to all our teacher and student volunteers.
Dozens of TPS families celebrated the Cosmos at the Schuylkill Center's star-themed festival on Saturday, December 13. Crafts included making star ornaments with Head of School Justine Hoffman and preschool teacher Maureen Glaccum, taking a twilight walk, and checking out native animals at a live animal show. There was a bonfire and s’mores under the stars, and art teacher Rick Jacobsen supervised a telescope for a closer look at the night sky. Middle school teacher Wendy Furry and TPS parent and astrophysicist Mordecai Mark Mac-Low led a walk about the history of the universe. The Franklin Institute’s chief astronomer, Derrick Pitts, concluded the evening with a talk about the wonders of a starry night.
