Bug Breakfast

This morning the preschool students celebrated all they have learned during their Insect Study. And what better way than to have a Bug Breakfast!  Thank you to everyone who brought in tasty breakfast treats - some made in the shapes of our insect friends.

Edible Insects

The preschool's insect study is in full bloom. The praying mantis egg sac finally opened. Many tiny mantises emerged, each one only the size of a pin.  They were released into our garden, where they can help protect our plants from harmful insects. Some of the children made edible insects to eat for snack. Using toothpicks and a variety of fruits, they fashioned the three body parts: antennae, legs, and wings. Then they promptly gobbled them up.
