Calling All Mad Scientists

The Franklin Institute is having a Mess Fess!

The mad scientists over at the Franklin Institute - including TPS alumna and Franklin Institute educator Shanna Pokras - are "embracing the mess" with the 3d annual Franklin Institute Mess Fest. Children and adults can get "down and dirty" with hands-on science activities and demonstrations.

Bring your scientific curiosity (and a change of clothes) to the Franklin Institute this Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3.  Mess Fest is free with museum admission.

All This in Under an Hour?

Today's Encuentro - our all-school assembly - featured mad science, music by the Junior Unit chorus, and community service (announcements about a school supplies drive for a local public elementary school and about a shoe drive for Ugandan orphans). Mad scientists Guy Blaylock and Wendy Furry demonstrated, in their usual wacky and entertaining way, friction - and the forces that make it stronger and weaker. (Photos by Marco Velis)
