Spring Fling!

More than 85 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders spent early Friday evening here in the TPS Garage and Garden at the 3rd Annual Middle School Spring Fling. They played ping pong, they decorated the parking lot and walkways with sidewalk chalk, they danced to music deejayed by Sanaa and Arthur, they tossed balloons, and more. (What they did not do is use their phones – except to text their parents about arrival and dismissal information! Now that is success!)

Thanks go especially to our chaperones –  Dan Lai, David D'Altorio, Cecilia Genzlinger, Hilary Hamilton, Justine Hoffman, Katrina Jones, and Terry Maguire. Isn't chaperoning scores of middle schoolers exactly what teachers want to do on a Friday night? Thanks also to the Facilities Team for setting up and to Student Council advisors Virginia Friedman and Lois West for helping the students organize the event.

All of us should be especially proud of our Student Council, who helped out throughout the evening and, from we could tell, had as much fun as everyone else!  And through the $1 suggested entrance fee, they raised funds for Philabundance.

Thanks to everyone in the TPS community for supporting Student Council initiatives throughout the year. Enjoy the photos below.

Swan Sculpting After School

Sixth through eighth graders enrolled in the Middle School After School Program (MSAS) enjoyed an array of food-themed activities this week – from sculpting swans out of apples to making brownies from scratch.  This afternoon, students will enjoy watching a sing-along version of this past winter's smash hit, Frozen.
