JU-A Weekly Note

Dear JU-A Families,

This week we continued to study invasive plants in science class, even though we didn’t take the trip to Schuylkill Center or Awbury Arboretum. Students learned how to make their sketch of the plants more detailed and to refine their observations of their characteristics.

In language arts, students finished the first of their monthly hero paragraphs! On Friday, we held a special student-created “ceremony” to acknowledge all of the heroes written about this month and allow students a chance to share their writing.  Ask your child to tell you about the components of the hero ceremony.

Over the long weekend, all students have their first reading response to complete.  They will choose one of three writing prompts to practice our current reading skill, using schema, in the context of their current independent reading book.  Be on the lookout for your child’s blue LA folder and the purple reading response assignment sheet.  He or she may need extra reminders to complete this assignment for Wednesday.  Additionally, 4th graders have two math assignments due Wednesday: this week’s IXL menu (D.1, D.3, and D.8) as well as a series of multiplication story problems.

We are looking for seeing all of you at parent-teacher conferences next week!

Have a pleasant weekend,

Jenson and Emily
