JU-A Weekly Note

Dear JU-A Families,

We are all excited for the annual TPS Feast next Tuesday.   The Junior Unit will be baking brownies for the Feast at school on Monday.  Thanks to those of you who have already supplied mixing bowls and spoons.  If you are able, and haven’t done so yet, please send a mixing bowl and spoon, labeled with your last name, to school with your child on Monday. They will be returned to you promptly!

A highlight of this week was two visits to Awbury to wrap up our fall science studies. When we return from Thanksgiving break, students will hit the ground running with their Mythbusters writing, turning their questions and observations into a formal science report.

During our short week next week, students will practice keeping a gratitude journal to capture and reflect on what they’re thankful for in their lives.  This article from UC Berkeley highlights some of the physical and psychological benefits of a “gratitude practice” like journaling, and this one shares tips for keeping a gratitude journal.  Check them out and preview them with your child, if you like!  If you already have a family gratitude practice, we’d love to hear about it.

Thank you all for sharing your warm, funny, curious children with us.  They bring us much joy, and we are certainly grateful for them!

Wishing you all a peaceful Thanksgiving holiday,

Emily and Jenson
