JU-D Weekly Note

Dear JU-D Families,

It was another action packed and slightly spooky week in JU-D. We continued to operate within a workshop model in which students manage week-long assignments at their pace. Outside of our self-directed classes, we worked on symbolism in our class flag and revised essays on family heroes. In our morning meeting sessions we began to prioritize summarization and fact based research in relation to historical moments.

We continued to partner effectively with JU-C in our heroic book groups and in the agora. Together we explored the nature of citizenship in ancient Athens and laid the groundwork for a continued study of power and representation in our modern culture. The week culminated in a fantastically hilarious and terrifyingly adorable Halloween parade that brought students of all ages together in celebration.

A few useful pieces of JU-D information:

Parent teacher conferences start on November 2nd, so if you haven’t already, make sure you sign up using our Doodle poll. Here is a link: http://doodle.com/poll/93ymd68k3pykcqcu.

We will take a break from Friday folders this week in order to compile a representative selection of student work to present at conferences.

Have a fantastic, fall weekend!

Truly, Noelle & Nick
